Start this term with a BANG!
Colossians 3:23 – “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
When you meet someone impressive or is in the presence of somebody impressive, you want to perform and NOT let them down. You want to make a good impression. So when you are in the presence of God…you DEFINITALY want to leave a very positive and lasting impression.
Nou vandag is die begin van ‘n nuwe kwartaal. ‘n Nuwe kwartaal bring iets baie kragtig saam met dit…’n nuwe en vars begin! Jy…en dalk jou vriende moet besluit dat laas kwartaal is in die verlede, dis agter julle – die wenne, die verloor oomblikke, die geleenthede wat julle gemis het. Wat van vandag af saakmaak is egter dit: “Wie kies JY om hierdie kwartaal te wees?”
So it is not a reset of WHO you ARE, but a reset of what you are willing to DO and BRING to the party. Your attitude, your effort and your standard. We don’t necessarily chase perfection, but we pursue progress and consistency. Doing the small things right every day. Showing up when it’s hard. Lifting other up when it is actually easier to break them down. Because our HERMIE culture in not built in BIG moments, but in the daily choices. So as we begin this term, I challenge each and everyone of you: Set your standard early, protect it daily and let your actions speak louder than your intentions.
Aan ALMAL wat laas kwartaal gesê het…in die tweede kwartaal of volgende kwartaal sal ek dit of dat doen…DAAI tyd het sopas aangebreek. Wees ‘n man van jou woord…wees iemand op wie se woord ons kan staatmaak.
Daar’s ‘n aanhaling wat soos volg klink wat die konsep vir my goed vasvat. Dit klink so: “I’m not upset that you lied to me, I’m upset that from now on, I can’t believe you anymore” Eina! Dit praat ewe skielik oor ons waardes…ek wil afsluit deur jou aan die begin van die tweede kwartaal weer te herinner waarvoor die letters van die woord HERMIES staan…die 7 waardes wat ons hoplelik daagliks hierdie kwartaal weer opnuut sal uitleef:
H – Helpfulness
E – Ethics
R – Respect
M – Motivation
I – Integrity
E – Empathy
S – Self-discipline
Maak seker dat die waardes ten toon gestel word daagliks in jou handel en wandel tydens die skooldag, maar netso belangrik…op die bus/taxi oppad skooltoe of huistoe, tydens jou buitmuurse aktiwiteit of selfs net by die huis waneer jy met jou gesin en familie besig is.
Sterkte met die tweede kwartaal en al die uitdagings wat JY en wat ONS gaan aanpak. Onthou net…daar is net EEN tweede kwartaal 2026…hy kom nie weer nie…make it count!
PRAYER
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for the Easter Holidays where we could celebrate You on the Cross and also the fact that you are Risen. We are so blessed to have you with us everyday as a companion to guide us and to be our best friend.
Thank you for bringing us all back safely and for another term at this amazing school…the privilege to be a HERMIE. Help us to get maximum value from what is on offer at our school, to add value and to appreciate the school and all the people in it, because before we know it, we will be done with this season of our lives. We love you and appreciate you.
