Hermanus High School is a co-educational, dual-medium, public school. The school has a proud history of outstanding academics based on firm discipline and a keen interest in the well-being and development of each individual learner. The school follows the National Curriculum (NCAPS) culminating in learners obtaining their National Senior Certificate (NSC) from the Department of Basic Education.

The school offers learners the opportunity to take additional subjects in Grade 10, 11 and 12 in addition to the seven core subjects. These are Dance Studies, Design, Visual Arts and Advanced Program in Mathematics which are taught privately.

Advanced Program in Mathematics

Admaths is available as an additional subject for Grades 8-12. Grade 12’s write the IEB at the end of the year.

Hermanus High School is particularly proud of its top academic achievers. 368 matriculation candidates obtained A-aggregates during the past seventy five years.

Six of these pupils were respectively placed first, second and fourth on the Cape Senior Certificate Merit List (1942-1994):

Mervyn Gotsman 1951: 2nd

Peter Janson 1959: 1st

Louise Voigt 1961: 4th

Jacques Grové 1991: 4th

Danie Coetzee 1994: 1st

Bjorn Ladwig 1994: 2nd

while the last four were placed on the Western Cape Senior Certificate Merit List

(1995-2016)

Tarryn Rudnick 2007: 4th

Nita Wiegman 2012: 1st in Western Cape ad 2nd in South Africa

Conrad Strydom 2016: 1st in Western Cape and 1st in South Africa

Sian Bourdin 2016: included in the Western Cape Education Department Merit List

MATRIC RESULTS 2023

CONGRATULATIONS HERMANUS HIGH SCHOOL!

The SGB, teachers and staff of Hermanus High School would like to congratulate the Matric Class of 2023 with their outstanding results. The school is very pleased to announce that it has a 96,1% pass rate.
 
More importantly, 77,3% of the candidates (172) achieved a Bachelor Degree pass (university exemption). 
20 Candidates achieved an A aggregate. This exceptional class of 2023 achieved 172 subject distinctions!
 
These results, once again, is testimony to the quality teachers and the quality education offered at Hermanus High School.

CONGRATULATIONS MATRIC CLASS

Hermanus High School would like to congratulate the matric class of 2021 on their outstanding results. The school is very pleased to announce that it has achieved a 100 pass rate. More importantly 86% of the candidates (132 out of 152) have achieved a Bachelor Degree pass (university exemption) and 186 pupils achieved subject distinctions. This is once again a clear indication of the quality education offered by the school.
