Skoolhoof se Vergadering Boodskap 5 August 2024

Oor om Doelwitte te Jaag

1 Corinthians 9: 24-26:  24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.

David believed in “controlling the controllables” and for the rest…trust GOD. He eventually focused on execution. He had to execute his skillset to the best of his ability and nothing more. And some might say, yes but he was lucky. I guess everybody has their opinion about this…

They tell the story about one of the world’s best golfers, Gary Player. He played the most amazing shot from the bunker and held the shot…it went from the bunker straight into the whole. Someone told him that he was lucky. His reply to that was…”Yes, you’re right, but funny thing is…the more I practice, the luckier I get!”…meaning that input and work ethic is closely linked to this “so called luck”.

A philosopher called SENECA said: “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”

Hence, luck is not just going to arrive on its own. Preparation and opportunity need to be there. If we are looking for an opportunity, this week is it! Preparation…we all had enough time, the question is just, did you make use of it. l

With that as background, I would like to wish each and everyone of you GOOD LUCK for this coming week…knowing that luck is not a random event, but an intentional action of sniffing out the opportunity and preparing well for it. GOOD LUCK everybody!

PRAYER

Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for telling us in your Word that we should be running intentionally so that we can get the prize. You have taught us the mindset we should have in anything challenging that comes across our way. Please be with us this coming week, that we will enjoy all the opportunities coming our way and that we will embrace every moment. Thank you for all our talents and the privilege and opportunity to be part of something great and your masterplan.

AMEN

Mr MJ Smuts
