KNOWING
Isaiah 40:31 “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
I have (wear) my wedding ring on my left hand, but on my right hand I wear a ring that says: “STRENGTH” and engraved on the inside is Isaiah 40:31. Now, I am not really a jewellery kind of guy, but this ring serves as a daily reminder that I have strength…and not the Dricus du Plessis strength, BUT an inner strength, KNOWING that the Lord is with me and within me everyday in every situation. When things get tough and challenging, I look at this ring, which is just a symbol, but I am checking in and reminding myself that it is NOT about MY strength, but about the Lord’s ALMIGHTY’s power that is within me!
We have started with many activities this year and this term…including academic work, sport, culture and service. After discussing some of our performances over the weekend with some of the staff and players, I felt the need to share this Isaiah 40:31 message with you. Athletes, when you run, run with the knowledge and conviction that the Lord is with you and will see you across the line…waneer jou bene jellie word of jou spiere seer is, vind Jesaja 40:31…”maar die wat op die HERE wag, kry nuwe krag; hulle vaar op met vleuels soos die arende; hulle hardloop en word nie moeg nie.”
Die krieket spelers wat ‘n harde naweek agter die rug het. As die oposisie alle waardes waarvoor ons staan laat vaar en jou sleg sê en persoonlik raak…then you access Ishaia 40:31 and tell yourself that the Lord gives me strength and you will not give the opposition access to your emotions. They will have a zero-affect on my performance!
Dit hoef nie sport te wees nie…van ons gaan deur moeilike tye by die huis, met vriende, in die klas…waarookal. Just know that You have what it takes!
PRAYER
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you that we can be confident and know that you don’t make mistakes and that you have created each and everyone of us, with the right mixture of grit, wisdom and resilience to face whatever may come our way. Help us to lead by example and to show and share your love with everybody that cross our paths. Help us to have an attitude of gratitude, but not to confuse kindness for weakness. If you are for us, who can be against us.
Thank you for this amazing school and every child and staff member that you have placed in this school. Be with them all and fill them with your endless love.
