Savanna Bullough, who matriculated last year at Hermanus High and played the role of Sandy in the Grease production, has gained a scholarship entry to Italia Conti Arts Academy in Guildford, UK.

This is an extremely prestigious Musical Theatre Academy, and is world-renowned as a training centre of excellence. She will qualify with the equivalent of a degree in Musical Theatre, and gain a teacher training certificate. Italia Conti are invited to participate in many professional events, including the Royal Variety show, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's 40th anniversary and Jubilee, Andrew Lloyd Webber concerts, and many BBC shows and events.

Considering only 15 students are accepted each year for her course, this is an outstanding achievement.

Her audition lasted over 2 hours, and included 3 different dance styles, one theatrical monologue, and two musical theatre songs.  The dances she did were the set Ballet, self contemporary, and self African dance.  She also had to work with some of the top choreographers in the UK, during a group audition. She starts in September.

She also auditioned for a small part in the musical "Sweet Charity" and is now the main dancer in the show.  Her main dance is "Old man's frug".  You can look this up on Youtube.

Once again congratulations to Savanna and making Hermanus High School very proud!
