Oratory skills are at a high level.
The annual internal oratory competition is an exhibition of outstanding critical thinking using colourful and persuasive language. It is indeed a testament to the excellent work done at home and in the classroom to develop our children’s ability to survey and analise the world around them.
This year we have however taken a step forward by taking part in a number of competitions involving schools from all over the country. Eleven speakers entered the ATKV’s “Redenaars” competition and three speakers, Amy Hess, George Botha and Maia Bellingan had the privelege to take part in the Western Cape final. We also participated in the “Radikale Redenaars” competition. Odi Chadinha, Yadine de Kock, Jannika van Niekerk and Maia Bellingan performed excellently and progressed to the provincial final.
Taking part in oratory competitions doesn’t end there. We will also be taking part in a district competition as well as the Eisteddfod. This will give our speakers more opportunity to develop, fine-tune and showcase their extraordinary ability. Encouraging self-confidence as well as critical thinking in our learners is very important for the staff at our school. Developing oratory skills is therefore a priority and we strive to give every learner the chance to discover potential they never knew they had.
